What you’ll learn to do: examine psychological approaches and treatments related to childhood disorders
Children are a vulnerable population and early intervention (and prevention) is often key in helping children recover from diagnoses or in developing techniques to adjust to having a mental disorder. Treatment and therapy can help children enjoy a higher qualify of life as they age into adolescence and adulthood.
Depending on one’s theoretical framework (i.e., the way of thinking about a disorder) the type of treatment they prescribe (or which to receive) may vary. We’ll delve more into that as well so you have a good understanding of the different ways of thinking about these neurodevelopmental disorders.
