The term <em>paraphilia<\/em>\u00a0comes from the\u00a0Greek\u00a0\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03ac (<i>para<\/i>) \"beside\" and \u03c6\u03b9\u03bb\u03af\u03b1 (<i>-philia<\/i>) \"friendship,\u00a0love\" and was first coined by \u00a0Friedrich Salomon Krauss,\u00a0a\u00a0Croatian\u00a0Austrian\u00a0Jewish\u00a0sexologist\u00a0in 1903, and\u00a0used with some regularity by\u00a0Wilhelm Stekel\u00a0in the 1920s. The term is\u00a0used to describe atypical sexual interests, and there remains debate regarding technical accuracy and perceptions of stigma. \"Paraphilia\" indicates that certain\u00a0behaviors are somehow deviant when in fact they may be just at different ends of the spectrum[footnote]Moser C. &amp; Kleinplatz P.J.
