Module 11 Discussion: Working During College

There are a number of reasons why a student would work while enrolled in college. The decisions we make as it relates to working while enrolled in college are personal, practical, and professional. While your personal experience has value, it is also important to look at the research as well. For our discussion this week, you will need to do some research on the benefits and drawbacks to working while in college.

Directions

Step 1: Decide if you want to learn more about the benefits or drawbacks of working while in college.

Step 2: Going outside the course content, research either the benefits or drawbacks of working while in college. You can look at any version of work that we discussed as part of this course. This can include on-campus and off-campus employment. Find a minimum of two sources that will support your argument. This can be a magazine or newspaper article, a reputable website, podcast episode, video, or other source.

Step 3: In your initial post, discuss what you found about the benefits or drawbacks of working while in college. Make sure to use your research to support your analysis and argument. Your initial post should be a minimum of 250 words.

Step 4: This week you will respond to one of your classmates that researched and posted about the opposite perspective you took in your initial post. If you researched and posted about the benefits of working while in college, respond to a classmate that discussed the drawbacks. In your response of a minimum of 150 words, discuss how your research differs from your classmate and if your mind was changed based on their research.
