Module 5 Assignment: Learning Techniques

Directions

In the module Thinking and Analysis, we provide general guidance in “Identify study techniques that help long-term retention of knowledge”. For this assignment, you are going to create a presentation in order to teach your fellow students about the best learning techniques and study habits. Use your ideas and the notes from the class discussions.

Learning Techniques and Study Habits Presentation

Here are six steps for preparing your presentation:

Step 1:  Choose one of the following learning outcomes for your presentation.

  • Identify differences between passing a test and gaining knowledge (cramming versus learning).
  • Identify study techniques that help long-term retention of knowledge.
  • Explain how peer groups can aid in class preparation.

Step 2: Prepare a plan for what you will teach the class. Choose one of the following potential topics to cover:

  • Note-taking and review
  • Lifestyle distractions
  • Study schedule
  • Self-care
  • Group study
  • Asking for help

Step 3: Arrange the presentation in an interesting and engaging manner. You might want to use a computer, music, visual aids, or other ways to engage your audience.

Step 4: Describe study techniques for long-term information retention to your audience. What would be the best way to teach others how to maximize their learning? How can you study for maximum learning?

Step 5: Plan to assess your presentation. How will you know if your presentation is successful? Ask for feedback from your peers. Develop 3 questions to ask the class about what they learned.
