Pacing

Computer Applications for Managers contains 16 modules—roughly one module per week for a sixteen-week semester—and a final capstone assignment. The modules are grouped in order from most basic skills to more advanced skills; later modules will assume students have already covered previous modules. If you need to modify the pace and cover the material more quickly, the following modules work well together:

  • Module 1: Intro to Computers, Module 2: Internet Research, and Module 3: Cloud Computing
  • Module 4: Microsoft Word Basic Skills and Module 5: Microsoft Word Intermediate Skills
  • Module 7: Microsoft Excel Basic Skills and Module 8: Microsoft Excel Intermediate Skills
  • Module 10: Microsoft PowerPoint Basic Skills and Module 11: Microsoft PowerPoint Intermediate Skills
  • Module 13: Microsoft Access Basic Skills and Module 14: Microsoft Access Intermediate Skills

We recommend NOT doubling up any of the Advanced Skills modules or the Integration module, because they are long and especially challenging. Students will need more time for mastery and completion of assignments.

Additionally, the course can be scaled to your students’ knowledge: if your students have already mastered basic skills, the basic modules can be omitted. If your students aren’t ready for advanced skills, the advanced modules can be omitted.
