Scenario
After meeting with Tom, you have coached Tom to a realization of his original vision and mission for Sun City Boards: “To set people free from the earth . . . free to ride the waves.” As you learned in this module, there are three foundational statements: Mission, Vision and Values. Tom’s original vision serves as a great starting point for a values statement.
For Discussion
- As preparation for this discussion, read Patagonia’s Core Values and reflect on the clarity that this type of commitment brings to planning and operational decisions.
- Reflect on what you learned in this module and propose a statement of values for Sun City Boards that is consistent with Tom’s stated vision and mission.
