Special occasions speeches have specific functions within particular events. Whether you’re introducing a speaker, toasting a friend, or kicking off an event, the special occasions speech isn’t about you, the speaker. It’s about the person being celebrated or the emotions of the event. Even more than other types of speeches, special occasion speeches need to be carefully adapted to the audience and the event. This adaptation includes the language you use in the speech, the emotional content of the speech, the use of humor, the structure of the speech, and the amount of time it takes to deliver.
