You might think that speaking online would be easier than face-to-face speaking. After all, you have much more control of many parts of the situation, and you don’t have to face down a live audience. Although some speakers find presenting online less stressful than presenting in person, it is certainly not easier than face to face. You have to do all the things you would do in person—audience analysis, structuring the speech, rehearsal—and then add a few extra technical aspects, such as getting the sound right and paying attention to the background. Nonetheless, speaking online is nothing to be afraid of. Like any of the skills in public speaking, it can be mastered with effort and practice.
