What you’ll learn to do: define law and differentiate between law, the legal system, and the rule of law
When you hear someone say, “That’s against the law,” what is your reaction? The action they are referring to might violate civil law, criminal law, natural law, local law, common law, or some other regulation or rule. We can define law as a body of rules of conduct of binding legal force and effect, prescribed, recognized, and enforced by controlling authority. In this module you will learn about law as it applies to business and how it shapes the climate within a business operates as well as how it governs the conduct of business entities.
The following video will give you an overview of the history of the law in the United States and introduce you to some of the terms and concepts you will study in this module.
