AI may be useful tool in some instances as you develop and revise technical documents. For example, it may help you:
- summarize information in order to highlight key points of an article
- revise information to use language appropriate to a particular audience
- order information
- and more…
However, know that AI is a tool only. It’s not a quick way to an end result. Do not rely solely on AI to write a finished product, since AI is known to hallucinate (make up things and present them in plausible-sounding ways), present biased information, and fabricate references. AI cannot help you choose information appropriate to the technical document, evaluate and analyze information, or articulate and organize it in your own way – nothing can replace your own creative, evaluative, and editorial skills.
Rely on your course and instructor to let you know when AI is appropriate to use as a tool.
