• Locate a woman of your age from the following period in ancient Mesopotamia (see the reference above) and do the same with that person’s identifying characteristics. Be mindful of “Presentism,” which is the unavoidable tendency to superimpose your experience onto experiences from the past that are unfamiliar to you, and try to interpret their identity as they would see it.
• Discuss the ways in which life of this woman would be different from yours.
• Discuss ways in which life for her would be similar to yours.
• In what ways do you feel you can successfully compare your life to hers?
• In what ways are you aware that you cannot know this woman’s experience?
