Topic 8: Lifestyles in Context: Eating, Activity, and Substance Use

Theoretical models of behavior change mean very little until we apply them to our daily routines. In this topic, we put theory into practice by looking at nutrition, weight, physical activity, tobacco use, and alcohol consumption. We will look at these behaviors through a deep cultural lens, analyzing how cultural body standards influence the psychology of eating disorders, exploring systemic variations in community fitness, and examining how cultural and societal norms heavily dictate substance use patterns across different populations.
