Introduction to Operations With Rational Expressions I

What you’ll learn to do: Apply mathematical operations to rational expressions.

As we’ve been moving through this course, we focused on different aspects of the order of operations and how they apply to a wide range of mathematical expressions.  We continue that here as we learn about rational expressions, which are used to model many relationships and have unique behaviors. Because they have unique behaviors, it helps to isolate rational expressions and learn how mathematical operations apply to them.

Specifically, in this section you’ll learn how to:

  • Define and simplify rational expressions
  • Multiply and divide rational expressions
  • Add and subtract rational expressions
