Purpose: You will meet with a classmate in person, over Zoom, or via a phone call to play Twenty Questions in Spanish with a partner. The collaboration part of this activity will take approximately 15 minutes, so plan accordingly.
Choose who will be Estudiante 1 and who will be Estudiante 2. Don’t peek at the other person’s file, or you will ruin the game! You will each receive a different picture and paragraph in Spanish describing the picture you have been designated. You will each have access to ideas for questions to ask your partner in four different categories: General, Personas, Animales y Cosas.
After you work with your partner through the questions, you will independently write a Reporte based on your experience doing this activity with your classmate.
Task: Download or print the following PDF. Inside, you will find the information you need to play Veinte preguntas. Start off by looking at the picture you have been given and read its description. Then, glance through the question options that are available to you to help you play this game.
After you have glanced through your portion of the activity, you will take turns attempting to figure out what the other person’s picture and description is. Each partner should have the opportunity to ask and answer questions. Keep track of how many questions your partner has to ask before they guess what your picture is!
If you want to play again, or if someone sees the image accidentally, you may each think of your own Animal, Person, or Thing and go about asking your 20 questions again.
After you complete the activity with your partner, you will write a Reporte about based on your collaborative experience. Your Reporte needs to answer the following questions in Spanish in paragraph form:
- ¿Cómo se llama tu compañero(a)?
- Las preguntas de mi compañero(a) son… 1), 2), 3)
- ¿Cómo es la persona/ el animal/ la cosa de tu compañero(a)?
- ¿Cómo es tu persona/ animal/ cosa?
Criteria: 100% of the grade for this activity comes from your Reporte addressing questions 1-4 on the previous Task portion above. If you are unsure about how your instructor wants you to submit this assignment (i.e. upload a word processing file, respond to a prompt, etc.), please ask for clarification before beginning.
