Module 2 Discussion: Una entrevista sobre colores

Purpose: You will practice your written conversation skills in Spanish by participating in a discussion board in Spanish. You will share information about colors with your classmates, and you will engage in asking and answering follow-up questions.

Task: This activity has three parts:

  1. An initial response to the prompt
  2. A follow up interaction with two classmates
  3. A final remark to your peers who comment on your initial response

Part 1. Read and respond to the following questions in Spanish. Use complete sentences, and be sure to change possessive adjectives as necessary! Post your response to the discussion board.

  1. ¿De qué color (o colores) es tu animal favorito?
  2. ¿De qué color son tus ojos (eyes)?
  3. ¿De qué color es tu bolígrafo preferido?
  4. ¿De qué color es tu cuaderno favorito?
  5. ¿De qué color es tu silla favorita?

Part 2. You will read the responses of two classmates and post a follow-up question in Spanish for each of them about one of the questions they answered. Be creative and authentic! If you need some help perpetuating the conversation, there are some ideas listed below.

Part 3. Just as you have read and responded to the posts of two of your peers, some of your peers have read and responded to your post. Finish up the conversations by responding to each peer who commented on your original post. Answer their questions in Spanish, and politely thank them for their time and sign off in Spanish.

Criteria: The components of this activity add up to 100%.

Part 1. 40% will be earned for posting your initial response in Spanish to the discussion board.

Part 2. 30% will be earned for interacting with two peers on their initial posts: you are to ask two peers a follow-up question in Spanish about one of their answers, so each question that perpetuates the conversation is worth 15%.

Part 3. 30% will be earned for responding to your peers on your original post: you are to answer the follow-up questions in Spanish that your peers asked about your original post (10% each answer) and politely thank them and sign off in Spanish (5% each).

In the following example, Erin responds to the initial post. Her peers, Danny and Mark, write a comment and question. Erin responds to their question and politely wraps up the conversation. Erin still needs to comment and ask a question to two other peers on the discussion board.

Ejemplo:

Erin: Hola. Me llamo Erin.
Erin: Hola Mark. La palabra “pájaro” significa “bird.” “Con la imagen de un pájaro” significa “with the image of a bird.” Gracias por trabajar conmigo. Hasta luego.

Additional follow up questions and statements for students who need support perpetuating the conversation:
