Research one of the lesser-known eating disorders, or “Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders” listed DSM that were not covered in much detail in the text, such as:
- Atypical anorexia nervosa
- Bulimia nervosa (of low frequency and/or limited duration)
- Binge-eating disorder (of low frequency and/or limited duration)
- Purging disorder
- Night eating syndrome
PART 1: Create an explanatory video of your chosen eating disorder by using a program such as Animoto or Powtoon (or another video making program that works for you).
Your video must include the following:
- At least two outside sources cited in APA style within the video
- Images and text that help to convey information about your chosen disorder. (Images that are used must be licensed for sharing by being your original work, in the public domain, or have a creative commons license.)
- The length of the video should be 2 to 4 minutes in length
- Your content must include symptoms, potential dangers, and recommended treatment options
- You do not need to appear in the video, but there should be narration in your video
PART 2: Post your video to the class discussion board. You also have the option to license your video with a creative commons license and have it be available for the world to see and learn from. If you choose to do this, you can post your video to YouTube.
PART 3: Respond to at least two classmates’ posts. Explicitly address their videos and try to extend, complicate, or redirect their points in a substantive, knowledge-demonstrating way.
