In this lesson, you will learn…

A variety of words and expressions such as:

  • verbos regulares que terminan en –ar
  • idiomas
  • países y regiones
  • nacionalidades
  • palabras de interrogación
  • los números de 20 a 100

You will also learn the following grammar tools:

  • the conjugation of regular –ar verbs, such as hablar and estudiar
  • the basic use of the verb gustar
  • the use of ser to express origin and nationality
  • the formation of questions

These words, expressions and grammar tools enable you to do the following in Spanish:

  • to talk about many different activities that are part of your routine
  • to talk about things you or others like to do
  • to discuss where people are from, and what languages they speak
  • to ask a variety of questions or request information
  • to use a wider array of numbers

As well, you will also learn about culture. In this lesson you will read about:

  • the Central American country Guatemala
  • Carlos Mérida, an important 20th Century artist
  • huipiles, and the rich traditions and meanings of textiles in indigenous cultures
