¿Qué te gusta hacer?In this lesson, you will learn more about the verb gustar, which you use to express your likes and dislikes. This is an important step in increasing or deepening the levels of conversations that you are able to have with other people. One very basic step in the process of getting to know another person always includes finding out how he/she spends his/her free time, what he/she likes to do for fun, on the weekends, after class, and so on. Using gustar, you will be able to get to know people better, and to let them know you a little better as well.
As you find out what people from other places like or don’t like to do, you not only will be learning about other individuals, but also about other cultures. You probably wouldn’t expect too many people from Berlin, Tokyo, or Philadelphia to tell you that they like to go to see bullfights on Sunday afternoons, but this is not such an uncommon answer in parts of Spain. Likewise, if you asked many young people around the world what their favorite sport is, you would probably find a variety of answers; in many parts of Latin America, you would find a vast majority of people who would say soccer, and in other parts of Latin America, baseball.
